    Job Description

    Position Summary

    The Supermarket/ Store Manager is responsible for ensuring an organized and smoothly run store department. Primary categories included in the department are grocery, frozen, dairy/refrigerated, bulk, HABA and general merchandise. Key focus is customer experience, store manager will advocate high level of engagement with customers in person, via phone/whatsApp and other digital platforms. The store manager will be the primary person making sure that there is adequate cashier coverage throughout the day and that all other store related tasks are completed in a timely manner, including making sure that the entire store is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion at all times to the greatest extent possible. The store manager is responsible for overseeing, training, scheduling, supervising, evaluating and providing constructive discipline for employees when needed. This position works closely with a wider management team to ensure store efficiency, availability of quality products, excellent customer service and high staff morale. All management and staff will work together to uphold the mission of the Supermarket.
    Customer Service & Experience Model excellent customer service for staff and provide excellent internal service to staff and peers;

    • Key focus is customer experience, learn from your customers, advocate high level of engagement with customers in person, via phone/whatsApp;
    • Ensure department employees provide excellent customer service and receive appropriate CS training;
    • Answer customer comments (in person, mobile, website, IG) in a timely manner;

    Financial Practices

    • Meeting and exceeding sales, individual and store targets
    • Ensuring growth, higher sales conversions, improving consistently on other store performance indicators
    • Managing pricing structure, prices on POS, store promotions and retail discounts, within set parameters
    • Maintain working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers and financial goals, take corrective action as needed;

    Management Practices Stay current on global trends and changes that affect the natural foods industry; Evaluate and improve product mix and pricing of products, develop promotional programs, offers, and loyalty cards.

    • Respond to challenging situations in a positive and professional manner including proposing new ideas or better ways of doing things;
    • Model supportive leadership qualities that motivate staff to achieve department goals and promote staff participation and team building;

    Merchandising and Product Management Establish and maintain a dynamic product mix, department merchandising, product selection criteria, category management, shelf set display, signage and promotional activity; * Continually work to improve product turn rates by evaluating products based on movement and sales trends. Conduct periodic price comparisons with other stores;

    • Ensure adequate product and supplies are ordered and available for the store;Purchasing Department
    • Negotiate as needed with suppliers for favorable prices and terms, quality and delivery;
    • Ensure invoices are processed, reviewed for pricing and discount accuracy; ensuring accurate separation of inventory categories and subcategories;
    • Ensure compliance with all purchasing contracts;

    Operations Oversee all day to day operations of the store running flawlessly (FOH & BOH); Ensuring adequate stock levels at all times. Oversee and facilitate ordering and receiving of all grocery items and supplies;

    • Acquiring and sharing evolving market trends and competitive activities;
    • Ensuring highest level of store upkeep, hygiene and visual merchandising standards;
    • Capturing and submitting data and reports accurately;

    Requirements and Qualifications Excellent customer service skills; * Proven experience in high levels of customer interactions;

    • 5 to 8 years ‘of experience in a retail environment, with a minimum of 2 years directly managing teams & with a track record of fulfilling store financial targets;
    • Sharp numerically, with an ability to analyze data /identify trends & opportunities;
    • Ability to simultaneously track and manage a large quantity of detailed information;
    • Strong verbal & written communication skills with command over English language;
    • Desire to inspire & influence team with a high level of integrity and professionalism;
    • Technology savvy, agile, creative & quick to adapt to changes;
    • Willingness and ability to learn and to meet the changing requirements of the job;
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task, including organizational, prioritization, and time management skill;
