The role:

We are looking for a committed and dynamic head of department to join our Science department at Dar Al Marefa, from August 2023.

The Head of Science will be responsible for leading the development of the curriculum, teaching and learning standards and assessment and reporting in their subject area. He/she will work as an inspirational and strategic leader, to create and implement a shared vision and strategic development plan that motivates students, staff, parents and all other members of the school community to achieve ongoing success. As a teacher, he/she will place emphasis on providing the students with well-resourced lessons and promote every child’s right to learn by creating a warm but challenging environment for the children.

Requirements:

B.Ed. or a Bachelor’s in a relevant subject alongside an M. Ed / PGCE / PGDE or equivalent.
A certified teaching qualification with exceptional subject knowledge in the IB context
Minimum 2 years experience teaching/leading IB sciences in the MYP and DP – Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Experience in the DSIB inspection framework (KHDA)
Proven track record of outstanding teaching and learning
Professional commitment to the successful implementation of an enriched IB/MYP and IB/DP curriculum;
High level of IT Skills;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with students, parent and peers;
Be willing to engage in extra-curricular activities;
Strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to the general welfare of the School.
